  Just as  Ken Starr's so-called "Independent Counsel" "Whitewater" financial investigation  devolved into Mr. Starr using his FBI investigators & 'Justice'  Department prosecutors to COMPELL WOMEN to TESTIFY ABOUT THEIR SEX LIVES (at any time in the past that they made have had contact with Bill Clinton),  and just as George W. Bush's  Department of 'Justice"  sought to COMPELL false and perjurous testimony to CONVICT  a popular political opponent,

Those who have closely followed the criminal activities of the Bush-era Justice Department, probably know that former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy was prosecuted after he refused to give false testimony against former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman. Scrushy was unlawfully convicted and now is in federal prison.

Less known is the case of former Jefferson County Commissioner Gary White, who might be facing a similar fate. White, a Republican, refused to give the testimony that federal prosecutors wanted about Siegelman and Scrushy--and wound up being prosecuted and convicted on corruption charges. White and his wife, Judy, have been devastated financially--and White recently asked a judge to appoint an attorney because he could not afford one.

Siegelman, released from federal prison pending final appeal of his own conviction, is trying to shine a spotlight on the Whites' situation.

We first learned of the extraordinary pressure federal investigators placed on Gary White from the reporting of Scott Horton at Harper's. And now Judy White has released a statement that reveals how low our Justice Department has fallen since George W. Bush became president:

"My husband, while serving as an elected county commissioner, was subpoenaed to give grand jury testimony against former Governor Don Siegelman and Richard Scrushy, because he assisted in arranging the meeting between them at which federal prosecutors contend crimes were committed that resulted in Governor Siegelman's and Mr. Scrushy's convictions. Please understand that I was present when my husband was questioned by federal officials, and I witnessed their demands that my husband testify as he was told, regardless of his insistence that he could not. Following his refusal to comply, the Office of the U.S. Attorney began investigating him, and obtained an indictment and a conviction, which was overturned by the trial judge.

The U.S. Attorney appealed the reversal. My husband got on the wrong side by refusing to commit perjury for their benefit. We have complained to the Office of Professional Responsibility and to the Department of Justice, to no avail, of numerous and verifiable instances of wrongdoing in this matter.

On one day we were highly respected, productive citizens, taking care of our family, and contributing to our community in numerous ways, serving on the boards of non-profits and raising awareness and money for worthy causes, aside from my husband's public service. Then, after my husband refused to commit perjury at the direction of federal officials, they have viciously focused on causing destruction, including the loss of employment, our home, relationships, and any and every resource we might have to fight back, to the point my husband is even unable to retain counsel.

Please help us, and please continue to help change a broken system.

If I did nothing, we would continue as we have since that fateful day when my husband refused to lie as demanded. Ultimately, I understand someone has to speak out and speaking out brings exposure. But if everyone with knowledge of the corruption spoke out, it would have to end, so I have chosen to not be part of the conspiracy of silence."

 Tonight on HBO's "The Phil Mahrer Show,"  comedian Phil Mahrer interviewed (by remote studio)  Congressman Dennis Kucinich, who has whipped up consternation and angst among the "hard core liberals" of the Democratic left by announcing that he will vote FOR the dreaded and despised Rahm Emanuel orchestrated "Obama health care bill" - despite the bill being FAR WORSE than the House Bill Congressman Kucinich refused to vote in support of earlier;  despite Congressman Kucinich's well stated opposition to _all_  the major elements in the Emanuel/Baucus/ /Lieberman insurance industry written "Obama care"  atrocity.       Phil Mahrer brought up  "TEA PARTIERS" - the notoriously  Right-Wing  anti-health care reform "spontaneous" protesters who have, along with senate and congressional Republicans,  DEFINED the opposition to health care reform for all of 2009, especially in cases where photos of gun-armed men attended "Tea Party" protests, conflating the right to bear arms in public with the right to have health care "free" of "socialized government." 

   In response, Dennis Kucinich said that he has TALKED with Tea Partiers in his home Ohio congressional district - AND THAT THEY ARE MARKED BY FEAR,  by the FEAR that the government will make an ALREADY BAD health care situation worse.
     To which we will add;    the FEAR that government will make an ALREADY BAD jobs and labor picture  even WORSE; the FEAR that the government will make a bad economy EVEN WORSE;  the FEAR, that the government's ALREADY DRACONIAN "WAR ON DRUGS" powers to invade your home with machine-guns and hooded police, ATF, and even "PRIVATIZED" gunmen   will EXPAND  in the "war on terror" to include  GESTAPO and S.S. type PURGES, for ANY  reason those in government deem necessary.
    To which JOE LIEBERMAN,  RAHM EMANUEL, PAUL WOLFOWITZ,  ROBERT RUBIN,  LAWRENCE SUMMERS,  Alan Greenspan, BEN BERNANKE,  and the entire  Jewish "Israel First"  RADICAL RIGHT WING  would say "AMEN."

 The Radical Right-Wing  Neo-Con Jews who run the Obama administration - the Rubinites Lawrence Summers, Rahm Emanuel in particular - have driven a HUGE WEDGE between the  Democratic Party, and not only the "lefty liberal"  activists who have traditionally been the most outspoken and active defenders of Democratic officials in years past; but the Neo-Con Obama  & Pelosi "Democrats" have ALSO DRIVEN a HUGE wedge between  the MILLIONS of American voters who voted for "CHANGE!" in 2008.... but who got instead  MORE BAILOUTS for fat-cat (parasitic) bankers;  MORE  DEREGULATION of the fiancial markets that led to the economic meltdown in the first place;  MORE UNEMPLOYMENT (and, to be specific,  MORE of a White House that  in Olympian arrogance pretends that unemployment IS NOT EVEN AN ISSUE);    the Obama & Pelosi (Emanuel) Neo-Cons are FAR MORE CLOSELY ALLIED with Wall Street and the RADICAL RIGHT-WING "Deregulation" REPUBLICANS, than they are with the 50+ MILLION Democratic voters who turn out to vote against the Right-Wing Republican agenda in elections every four years.

    Mr. Emanuel's tactics read as a "how to" in TREACHERY:
 #1.  Instead of coming out with a health care reform plan that Americans would actually applaud and flock to,  Emanuel instructed Obama to DO NOTHING - play the aloof, distant god on Mt. Olympus - THEREBY SURRENDERING the Bully Pulpit, and SQUANDERING Obama's MANDATE for "CHANGE!" to the  TEA-PARTY protesters and their astro-turf  hit men, like DICK ARMEY and the entire Rethuglican rabble-rousing party.
#2.   EVERY TIME that  PUBLIC DEMAND for a Public Option (in itself a watered down Single Payer reform)  bubbled to the surface - DESPITE  Obama & Emanuel's treachery and deceit - Emanuel "masterfully" played the DELAY, DENY, DERAIL and DESTROY game.
 #3.  The above "delay, deny and destroy"  tactic demanded EMPOWERING EVERY "yellow dog" backstabbing "Democrat" in the senate; so like a Broadway director hustling his showgirls across a stage,  Emanuel trotted  his "D.I.N.O." (Democrat In Name Only)  Senators out  one after another... to  OBSTRUCT the will of the American people.

 < In today's New York Times, Thomas Friedman likens the atmosphere in America today to that in Israel just prior to Yitzhak Rabin's assassination. As is the case here, the right-wing party (the Likud party) had been in power for most of the previous two decades and expected the Labor party to be relegated to permanent opposition. When Yitzhak Rabin was elected in 1992, the right acted as if a coup had taken place, rather than a mere election. When Rabin abandoned the right's policy of refusing to engage with the Palestinians - and actually entered into negotiations with them - the right became unhinged.
Leader of the opposition, Binyamin Netanyahu, actually spoke at rallies at which Rabin was depicted as a Nazi or a terrorist. Right-wing rabbis convened rabbinic courts to call on the heavens to strike Rabin dead.  Other rabbis said that it was permitted to kill a Jew who betrayed his own people (as they believed Rabin had by negotiating with the Palestinians).

 More proof that Barack Obama is, like Joe Lieberman and Rahm Emanuel, a RADICAL RIGHT-WING REPUBLICAN,  _posing_ as a "liberal Democrat," as he takes up where Dick Cheney left off (also at Neo-Con "Israel uber alles" instigation)  ratcheting  up the stranglehold on America's once vaunted democracy. 
Despite the  public/press reporting about a contremps between Israel and the United States  (that is, between the Israel Likudnik war-mongering government of current Prime Minister Netanyahu, and current U.S. government of  President Barack Obama) the fact remains that President Obama CONTINUES to GET HIS "NATIONAL SECURITY" "advice" FROM the "ISRAEL uber alles" Likudniks who dominate the ENTIRE  U.S. Defense Department (i.e. Pentagon military high command), and of course who DOMINATE the U.S. financial markets and Congress as well. 
  One may rest assured that there will be NO  major alteration of U.S. policy towards Israel, regardless of the current headlines,  and that, at the instigation of the Likudnik warmongers,  America will continue to look more and more like a Stazi (if not Gestapo/KGB) police state.

Protecting agencies from oversight, Obama threatens to veto intelligence funding

The [Emanuel]  White House is threatening to veto a key intelligence funding bill over what it considers to be a dangerous amount of oversight on covert agencies, according to published reports.
The 2010 Intelligence Budget has gone through a number of key changes over the past few months, with House Democrats and the Obama administration butting heads over a number of provisions. Key among them for the latest White House veto threat is a provision that would allow the Government Accountability Office to investigate intelligence agencies.
"Current law exempts intelligence and counterintelligence activities from GAO review, leaving oversight to the inspectors general at the various intelligence community agencies," Politico reported.
In a letter to the House and Senate intelligence committees, Office of Management and Budget chief Peter Orszag highlighted several areas of the bill that have intelligence officials worried, including the GAO oversight provision....
